SPCJ of Bugasong Central School sponsors sports newsletter

With great desire to showcase the journalistic skills of the young budding writers of Bugasong Central School, Ang Bagong Sibol the official school publication of the Special Program in Campus Journalism sponsored and published a 6-page sports newsletter on September 12-13, 2013.

The sports newsletter was named Siniripal 2013, the official newsletter of 2013 Bugasong Municipal Meet.

The 6-page newsletter covered the 2-day activities which includes the opening program, game events and awarding ceremony.

Also it features behind the scene news article, editorials and features that with connection in sports.

"Enjoy gid ako mag cover kag mag write kang articles about sports (I really enjoyed covering and writing articles with relation to sports,"  Jonamae Bedona remarked, senior editorial assistant of the publication.

The team was composed of 10 members and lead by their editor-in-chief, Mr. Dennis B. Bade, the school paper adviser of the school.

Other members are Syrell Doanne V. Nietes, Jonamae Y. Bedona, Cera Angely Y. Rizardo, Anthony Ken J. Bucasas Senior Editorial Asssistants, Kate Clarisse Bantolo, Sheena S. Laude (Junior Editorial Assistants), Renilyn Bedona (Cartoonist), and d'Doc Jessie Flores (Photojournalist).

Mrs. Consuelo P. Gario, Principal II of the school served as the consultant of the said newsletter.

In the history of Municipal Sportsfest this is the first time that a community-based newsletter was published despite of the fact that there is no fund available to finance the operating expenses.

The staff members opted to have a donation box and gather some little donations from the spectators of the event to defray the expenses in reproduction of the six pages paper.

"I am very happy that our publication was the talk of the town on that day, it got to the point that our readers argue and critic our headlines and some of our news items featured," shared Mr. Dennis B. Bade, EIC.

"There and then I feel fulfillment because we could say and claim that our effort was not wasted because people are reading our paper," Bade added.

The staff is planning to sponsor again a sport newsletter in the forthcoming Cluster III Athletic Association Meet on October 23-25, 2013 which will be held at Antique Vocational School, Bugasong, Antique. #
