Marnelli

      Kumakailan ay naging maingay ang usap-usapan sa buong bayan matapos manalo ang paaralan sa Mardrigras Competion sa pagdaos ng taunang pista ni Sr. Sto. Nino. Ang kosepto ng Tribu Pamasada ay nakasentro sa isa sa mga pinakamarangal na trabaho sa Bugasong - ang mga traysikel drayber.
Panalangin. Ito’y isang isang ilaw sa gitna ng dilim na unti-unting naghahatid sa isang nilalang tungo sa paroroonan, isang instrumento upang ilagay sa kaotohanan ang bawat mithiin ng isang tao sa kanyang buhay. Ito ang daan upang makausap ang katangi-tanging Poong Maykapal sa pagkagising sa umaga bilang pasimula sa maghapong tatanggaping biyaya mula sa kanya.
      Sa kabila ng mga pagsubok na aming kinakaharap. Ito lang ang aming naging sandata sa mga pasanin namin sa buhay. Si tatay, hmmm…. humuhugot kami ng lakas sa kanya. Sa kabila ng mga paghihirap niya para sa amin. Kahit isa lang siyang traysikel drayber. Kinaya niya kami buhayin, kinaya niya akong pag-aralin.
     Mula sa masisipag na tao,ito ang tatay Marcelino Sales Jr. ko. Ang pinakamamahal at pinakamasipag kong tatay. Galing siya sa Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental. Puno ng kulay ang nakaraan ng aking tatay. Noong nag-aaral pa lamang siya ay naranasan niya na ang hatiin ang kanyang oras, oras sa pag-aaral at oras sa pagtatrabaho. Sa madaling sabi naging working student siya.
     Nakapagtapos si tatay ng Electrical Engineering kahit na siya lang ang nagtataguyod ng kanyang kolehiyo. Hindi naman siya iskolar tulad ko. Hindi ko talaga akalain   na magagawa ng tatay ko ang lahat na iyon. Akalain mo na kahit walang pera ay kinaya ng tatay ko na tustusan ang lahat na iyon. Kahit masama sa pakiramdam ng isang anak na yun ang pinagdaan ng isang ama ay okay pa rin yun sa akin dahil napatunayan naman ni tatay na hindi hadlang ang kahirapan sa pag-abot ng mithiin sa buhay.
     Dalawamput-walong taon na kami naninirahan dito sa Antique simula ng magsama si Tatay at Nanay Nelda Aquino-Sales. Ayon sa mga kwento ni tatay nagkakilala raw sila ni nanay sa isang pabrika na pinapasukan nito. Hindi madali ang buhay mag-asawa dahil sa pagsubok ng buhay. Lalong lalo na nang dumating ako sa buhay nila. Pero palaging sinasabi ni tatay na anghel raw nila ako. Kwento pa niya nang magtayo sila ng negosyo ni nanay na Ready-to-Wear (RTW) shop ay pumatok ito.
     Hindi naging madali ang piangdaanan ng aming pamilya. Naranasan naming maapakan at husgahan ng ibang tao.
     “Okay lang na pag-uusapan tayo ng ibang tao basta. ang importante wala tayong naaapakan na tao”, mga salita sa amin ni nanay.
Heto ako ngayon isang DJ sa isa mga respetadong radio station ng bansa. Masaya ako sa Star FM, Bombo Radyo Philippines. Kilala ako sa tawag na Dj Max.
     Kasalukuyan, iskolar ako sa UP Diliman sa kursong LAW. Natatandaan ko pa nung graduation ko sa kolehiyo, hindi ako naka akyat sa entablado upang kunin ang aking diploma. Inuna ko ang pagrerepresenta ng bayan sa Lin-ay ng Antique. May paghihinayang din ako noon sa aking pasya.
     Sa aming pamumuhay hindi naging mahalaga ang yaman kundi ang makapagtapos sa pag-aaral. Hindi importante ang mga materyal na bagay. Ang pinaka-importante ang wala kang maaapakan na ibang tao”.
     Ang sabi ni nanay kailangang may takot kami sa Diyos. Ito lang ang naging tulay namin kung paano kami nabubuhay sa ngayon. Napagkasanayan na rin naming magdasal na magkasama-sama.
     Kaya pinatunayan ko,angt mga katagang “Prayers can move mountains”. Na kahit anong mangyari sa araw-araw na pagsubok sa buhay, okay lang ako. Ang rurok ng tagumpay ay nandyan lamang naghihintay at nakaabang sa atin. Nakahandang pulutin, hablutin, sungkutin at kunin.
     Sa kabila ng kahirapan ng aking buhay at kasawiang palad na dumalaw sa akin, matutuhan ko itong harapin at hanapin ang mga nakatagong kabutihan ng bawat pangyayari ng aking buhay. Matuto lamang tayong tuunan ng pansin mula sa pagsikat ng araw hanggang sa paglubog nito, tiyak na matutuklasan nating napakarami nating dapat ipagdasal at ipagpasalamat sa buhay.
     “Kamu ang mga manggad (yaman) ko” bukambibig sa akin ni tatay.
     Si Marnelli ay tunay na mukha ng Tribu Pamasada. Nito lamang Disyembre 27 siya ay ikinasal at hanggang sa ganitong pinakaimportanteng araw ng kanyang buhay naging bahagi ito - ang kakambal niya sa buhay ng kangyang Tatay Marcelino.
     Nang araw na iyon, tanaw niya sa labas ng bahay na handa na ito upang maging kauna-unahang traysikel na gagawing ’bridal car’ sa kasaysayan ng bayan. Malinis. Nakabihis. Napalamutian.

Bugasong Central School defends crown in Panulaton

Bugasong, Antique - Third Championship.

             Because of the hard work, hope and faith to God Bugasong Central School defended their crown as the over-all champion in the Panulaton 2014, last July 19-20, 2014 held at Punta Villa Resort, Inc. Arevalo , Iloilo City.
Defend crown. Ang Bagong Sibol, official school publication of Bugasong Central School maintained their title as ‘Champion’ in the  regional-based journalism event, Panulaton sponsored by Silak, official school publication of the College of Education, West Visayas State University, Iloilo City on July 19-20, 2014.


             The school was followed by SPED Integrated School for Exceptional Children and followed by Pototan Pilot who was declared first runner-up and second runner-up respectively.

The school shined in different categories like News Writing, Feature Writing, Sports Writing, Editorial Writing , Copyreading and Headline Writing, Editorial Cartooning.
The school also stand out in Copyreading and Headline Writing in Filipino Category when Krizel Ann Dioso, Sheila Jane Orbon, Allen Chrizzel Dela Cruz, Angelique Camille Bacaoco, Patricia Monique Maghari, Rica  Ann Timario, Sacil Angelique Jaromay, and Johnna Rose Bantolo got 1st, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th place respectively.

Every after class they are having practice in campus journalism and every Sunday from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Some awardees are Jayrod Dela Cruz, Jannah Mae Pidoy, Tricia Denise Lavega, Angelika Alexie Joting, Krizel Ann Dioso, Joewen Ray Ducado, Jan Llonyl Polaron, Jessa Mosquera, Joshua Rizardo, Juje Anne Bernardio, Ilyich Jeigh Bacaoco, Frank Arlou Huelar, Charles Ivon Sealquil, Elijah Jean Segundera, Kurt Ian Bayoneta, Mary Kristine Laude,and Leonette Moiselle.

“It was only a dream with great determination to get it with the aid of our Almighty God, our prayers was answered after eight years quest in campus journalism”, remarked by Mr. Dennis B. Bade, School Paper Adviser of BCS.

Iloilo rules football second round elims

 Chris Maverick Perocho played hero for Iloilo booters when ended the deadlock with Negros team at 5-4 after blocking the sixth free kick in the elimination round of the football event at EBJ Memorial Sports Centre, San Jose de Buenavista, February 11, 2014. Perocho, a fourth year student of Central Philippine University (CPU) rolled on the ground and cried after blocking the Negros kick.


“God answered my prayers. He told me to wait for the right time,” Perocho said his eyes showing hints of sense of achievement.

The field umpires declared a shoot out after the bell rang in the second half, with scores tied at 1-1.

Negros deposited their 1 point in the first half of the game, while Iloilo marked their own in the last 10 minute of the second half.    

Mr. Marc Hermel Agriam, head coach of Iloilo said that he is very happy of the result of the game since they surpassed their biggest obstacle and that is winning against Negros.

“This is the first time that our school, Central Philippine University represented in this game. In the  previous years, it was Barotac Viejo,” Agraim added.

Star player goalie Perocho further stressed that it is worth to pray hard and learn the value of patience.

In the same day their team in elementary also won against Negros ended a score of 2-1.

Alexis Soquedo of Negros filed his 1.90 ft in 2014 WVRAA, EBJ Memorial Sports Centre, San Jose, Antique

Track and field contender of Negros, Alexis Soquero settled to 1.90 ft in high jump boys, secondary and snatched his second gold in WVRAA 2014 on February 11, 2014 at EBJ Memorial Sports Centre, Binirayan Hills, San Jose de Buenavista.

Soquedo was chased by his co-athlete in Negros, Cesar Fernandez and John Loyd Batalla of Aklan who registered 1.85 meters and 1.70 meters respectively. 



On the other hand, Kaylane Mosqueda and Shiela Mie Tacay of Iloilo ruled the women’s category who filed 1.54 ft and 1.51 correspondingly grabbing the gold and silver.


High jumper of Aklan Jasmin Tayco ranked third with 1.48 ft.



Mosqueda requested the officiating officials to set the bar to 1.56 ft while Soquedo at 1.95 ft for record purposes but they both failed to make it clear.

Mary Anthony Diesto flies for gold in long jump girls, secondary finals in 2014 WVRAA Meet

Mary Anthony Diesto of Negros filed her fifth victory in Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVRAA) Meet as she grabbed the gold medal in long jump girls secondary on February 10, 2014 at Evelio B. Javier Memorial Sports Centre Field, Binirayan Hills, San Jose de Buenavista, Antique. 

Diesto, palarong pambansa last year registered 5.36 meters,to surge ahead of Rich Palmares of Iloilo and Alyssa Marie Andrade of Aklan who settled 5.09 meters and 5.04 meters respectively.  

“I am very serious this year’s WVRAA, I really prepared hard in this event with the big reason that this is my last year to compete,” remarked by Diesto.

       She has  been in track and field event since she was in Grade IV and has been the representative  of their province for five times in the regional level competition. 

        She said that she struggled in her career as an athlete when her original coach died causing adverse effect on her performance. 

       Diesto also won the gold medal in triple long jump the next day.

Negros blockers spill Iloilo spikers in two sets, 29-27, 25-19

Winning a volleyball game is not all about offense. Sometimes it’s more on defense.

Negros defenders confirmed this as they shade Iloilo, last year’s champion with a straight set in game 8 of volleyball boys, secondary, 2-0, 4:35 p.m. of February 10, 2014 at EBJ Memorial Sports Centre, San Jose de Buenavista.

John Paul Dolar, key player of Iloilo fired strong spikes against his opponents in the opening of first set leading the score at 23 -18.

Emmanuel Isidto Jr., starplayer of Negros did not lose hope despite of the 5-point lead of the opposing team, with a booming kill setting the score at 23-19. Iloilo called a timeout after this.

Player number 8 of Negros continued the momentum of the game when he fired out two kills, 23-21 but he was blocked in his third attempt, 24-21.

A sudden death was felt when scores nailed to 24-24 with the strong blocks worked out by Negros.

Exchange of powerful spikes was observed between the starplayers of two teams and raised the score at both 27 but Dolar was blocked twice next finishing the set at 29-27.

The second was in favored with the Negros composed of players from St. Joseph School, University of St. La Salle, St. John Institute, E.B. Magalona National High School, Hinigaran National High School and Doña Moserat National High School as they crushed the previous champion with series of kills and blocks ended the set at 25-19.
Team Negros grasped the limelight of their happiness after winning against Iloilo

 According to Michael Larroza, coach of Negros their secret was rigid training with 4-5 hours a day court workout.

“We did not only focused on our offense but we invest much in our defense leading us to win today in our match”, said Isidto Jr, a fourth year student of St. Joseph School.


After winning the game the team ranked one in the elimination round of the tournament.
