Antique young journalist attends Reg'l Training in School Paper Production

This training will enhance the skills of the young writers for collaborative contest and how to produce school papers, said Mr. Jude Thaddeus I. Iledan, Education Program Supervisor II - English  during the Regional Training in School Paper Production at Punta Villa Resort, Iloilo City on December 14-15, 2013.

The two-day workshop includes lay-outing skills and identifying write ups that will be place in the newsletter for the elementary and tabloid for the secondary.


About 300 participants joined the said training-workshop where the highest number of participants came from the Division of Antique.

Bugasong Central School with 19 young journalists, was led by their school paper advisers Mr. Dennis Bade and Miss Mary Jane Badoy.

Thaddeus added that at the end of the workshop, it is expected participants will come up a quality output and able to compete in the National Schools Press Conference group contest.

Secretary Luistro inspires Brigada Eskwela Awardees; DepED Region VI bags 4 Hall of Fame Awards

Brigada Eskwela national awardees filled with mixed emotions in the concluding part of the 2013 Brigada Eskwela Best Implementer National Awarding, November 20, 2013 at Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, Pasay City when everybody sang Yeng Constantino's hit song as tribute to the victims of typhoon Yolanda.

Mr. John Arnold S. Siena, Officer-In-Charge, Office of the Regional Director led the Western Visayas delegation in the said event.

The region reaped four Hall of Fame awards this year out of the six categories namely: Antonio Bello Elementary School (Small School Category - Elementary), Bugasong Central School (Big School - Elementary), Kalibo Integrated School for Special Education Curriculum (Special School Category - Elementary), and Panit-an National High School (Big School Category - Secondary).

The four schools are from the divisions of Antique, Aklan and Capiz.

Unfortunately, A. Bello ES did not make it to grace the activity because they belong to the most hit by the recent natural disaster.

Other awardees of the region are Tan-awan National High School, Hinigaran Elementary School, and
two others from the division of Kabankalan City.

"Ang pagdiriwang na ito ay atin pong inaalay para sa lahat ng dinaanan ng super typhoon Yolanda," Bro. Armin Luistro, Department of Education (DepED) Secretary final words in his message.

Secretary Luistro also recognized the only participant from Region VIII.

"Kasama po ang lahat ng iba ibang probinsya at regions na naapektuhan ng super typhoon Yolanda, kung maari pong ipaabot sa lahat ng aming kapamilyang DepED sa Region VIII ang aming kalinga, ang aming panalangin,  ang aming patuloy na pagsusuporta hindi po nag-iisa ang Region VIII at lahat ng mga eskwelahan na dinaanan ng Yolanda kami po ay kaisa ninyo," Luistro added.

Bugasong Central School receives Hall of Fame Award in Brigada Eskwela Best Implementer

Hall of Fame.

This was the fruit of the 3-year participation of Bugasong Central School, Division of Antique to the  Regional and National Search for Brigada Eskwela Best Implementers.

Mrs. Consuelo P. Gario, Principal II of the school together with her teachers received the Plaque of Recognition as Champion in Big School category last November 15, 2013 at Kabankalan Cultural and Sports Center, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.

The school started participating the national mandatory endeavor of the Department of Education (DepED) since school year 2011-2012 and fortunately grabbed the championship in the region and became a national awardee.

Brigada Eskwela is designed to prepare schools in the country for the June opening every year where different stakeholders of the school share their resources and labors. This year is the 10th year of the noble undertaking of the DepED.

On November 20, 2013 the school will attend the national awarding ceremony in Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, Pasay City to receive the same award in the national level.

The group will be headed by Mrs. Corazon Tingson, OIC - Assistant Schools Division Superintendent, Mr. Fabian Niebre, Division Brigada Coordinator, Mrs. Consuelo P. Gario, Principal II of Bugasong Central School and Mr. Demosthenes P. Aliste, incumbent Principal II.

"We are very happy to reap the fruit of our labor. I know it is not all about fame and glamors but it is all about the development of our school and our school children," shared by Mr. Demosthenes P. Aliste.

Bugasong Central School young journalists bag over-all championship in 2013 Regional Panulaton


For the second time around, Ang Bagong Sibol, the Official School Publication of Bugasong Central School grabbed the over-all championship (Elementary Category) in the 2013 Regional Panulaton held on July 12-14, 2013 at Punta Villa Resort and Training Center, Arevalo, Iloilo City.

          This years journalism activity of Silak, Official School Publication of the College of Education of West Visayas State University named as Panulaton 2013: Bigger and Grander in the Name of Writing and Performance under the leadership of their adviser and journalism expert, Ms. Hazel Villa.

          Starglow Academy of Aklan (Center for the Arts) and Ateneo de Iloilo spotted second place and third place respectively in the elementary.

          Mr. Dennis B. Bade, head coach of the school awarded as the Most Outstanding School Paper in the elementary. Also he won first place in Declamation Piece Writing (Filipino) and Oratorical Piece Writing (Filipino).

          Syrell Doane Nietes and Krizel Ann Dioso hailed as champion in News Writing English and Filipino respectively. Angelique Camille Bacaoco awarded second in News Writing (Filipino), Benju Castillon landed sixth place in News Writing (English). On the other and, Jarell John Aquino and Johnna Rose Bantolo on the seveth and eigth spot in the same category.

          Krisha Cyndy Estoquia, Editor-In-Chief of the publication dotted fourth in Copyreading and Headline Writing (Filipino), fifth in Sports Writing (Filipino) and ninth in Feature Writing (Filipino).

           In live performance, Charles Ivon Sealquil and Ma. Viktoria Clarisse Bartolo won first place in Declamation and Oration Contest both in Filipino category. Sealquil also awarded first in Photojournalism (Filipino) while Jayrod dela Cruz spotted second in Oration Filipino.

          Also became winners of the competition from the publication are Allen Chrizzel Dela Cruz (4th Place in Sports Writing Filipino and 8th Place in Feature Writing Filipino), Jessa Mosquera (6th Place in Copyreading and Headline Writing Filipino), Krizela Cunanan (7th Place in Feature Writing Filipino), Franz Gabriel Aliste (9th Place in Photojournalism English), and Kate Clarisse Bantolo (10th Place in Feature Writing Filipino).

          Miss Mary Jane Badoy, assistant school paper adviser of the school placed second in Oratorical Piece Writing (Filipino).

          The 3-day training-workshop aimed to to train the very best journalism writers as well as aspiring declamation and oration piece writers in Region 6 to improve their chances at winning journalism competitions such as the Regional and National Schools Press Conferences and literery-musical contests.

          "We are very much happy of the outcome of our student writers and school paper advisers in the training," Mr. Demosthenes P. Aliste, Principal I of Bugasong Central School.

          Last year the school also won the over-all championship in the said journalism activity entitled Panulaton 2012.The Cutting Edge: Winning Journalism Competitions.

          "We hope to attend again next year and hope to reap the Hall of Fame Award," Aliste added.

SPCJ of Bugasong Central School sponsors sports newsletter




With great desire to showcase the journalistic skills of the young budding writers of Bugasong Central School, Ang Bagong Sibol the official school publication of the Special Program in Campus Journalism sponsored and published a 6-page sports newsletter on September 12-13, 2013.

          The sports newsletter was named Siniripal 2013, the official newsletter of 2013 Bugasong Municipal Meet.

          The 6-page newsletter covered the 2-day activities which includes the opening program, game events and awarding ceremony.

           Also it features behind the scene news article, editorials and features that with connection in sports. 

          "Enjoy gid ako mag cover kag mag write kang articles about sports (I really enjoyed covering and writing articles with relation to sports,"  Jonamae Bedona remarked, senior editorial assistant of the publication.

          The team was composed of 10 members and lead by their editor-in-chief, Mr. Dennis B. Bade, the school paper adviser of the school.

          Other members are Syrell Doanne V. Nietes, Jonamae Y. Bedona, Cera Angely Y. Rizardo, Anthony Ken J. Bucasas Senior Editorial Asssistants, Kate Clarisse Bantolo, Sheena S. Laude (Junior Editorial Assistants), Renilyn Bedona (Cartoonist), and d'Doc Jessie Flores (Photojournalist).

          Mrs. Consuelo P. Gario, Principal II of the school served as the consultant of the said newsletter.

            In the history of Municipal Sportsfest this is the first time that a community-based newsletter was published despite of the fact that there is no fund available to finance the operating expenses.

           The staff members opted to have a donation box and gather some little donations from the spectators of the event to defray the expenses in reproduction of the six pages paper.

              "I am very happy that our publication was the talk of the town on that day, it got to the point that our readers argue and critic our headlines and some of our news items featured," shared Mr. Dennis B. Bade, EIC. 

              "There and then I feel fulfillment because we could say and claim that our effort was not wasted because people are reading our paper," Bade added.

             The staff is planning to sponsor again a sport newsletter in the forthcoming Cluster III Athletic Association Meet on October 23-25, 2013 which will be held at Antique Vocational School, Bugasong, Antique. #

Bola (Feature Story)





Sa panulat ni Gina T. Laude


(Ang kwentong ito ay likhang isip lamang ng may akda. Anumang pagkakatulad sa sa pangalan ng tauhan, lugar, at pangyayari ay hindi sinasadya)

 Maaliwalas ang araw na iyon.Sa kabila ng matutulis na sikat ng araw ay presko pa rin ang bakuran na binalot ng mga berdeng halaman. “Haay, sarap maligo, sambit ng naroon habang nagapahinga sa ilalim ng puno ng mangga. Puno na ng pawis ang kanyang damit. Malimit ito ang nangyayari sa maluwag na bakurang punong-puno ng sigla dala ng mga nakangiting mga makukulay na bulaklak, kumikislap na ngiti ng mga hinog na bunga ng mangga na sinasabayan pa ng mga tugtugin mula sa mga maliit na ibon na naglalaro. Biglang napatanaw sa malayo ang maamong mukha ng batang babae. Di na namamalayan ni Jennifer na tumutulo na pala ang mga butil ng luha sa kanyang maamong pisngi. Naalala  na naman niya ang kanyang ina, kahit limang taon na itong sumakabilang buhay ay palagi pa rin niya  itong  naiisip  ang mga bilin at paalala nito sa kanya. 

       “Jennifer halika na rito at ng makapag-almusal kana. Sige ka mahuhuli ka sa klase mo mamaya, papagalitan ka na naman, tawag ng kanyang Lolo Pancho. Para sa bata si Lolo Pancho na siguro ang maituturing niyang pinaka importanteng tao sa buhay niya. Simula nang mamatay ang kanyang ina ito na ang nag-aruga at tumayong amat ina sa kanya.

            Doon pa lang bumalik ang kamalayan ng batang babae. Dali-dali niyang dinampot ang paborito niyang bola ng volleyball at pumasok na sa loob ng bahay para maghanda sa pagpasok. Pagkatapos niyang kumain at magbihis ay bumaba na siya ng bahay at nagpaalam sa kanyang lolo. Humalik pa siya sa matanda bago tuluyang umalis.

            Mag-ingat kang bata ka ha, ang baon mo ay nandyan na sa loob ng bag mo, sigaw ng kanyang lolo. Isang ngiti ang naging tugon niya sa kanyang pinakamamahal na Lolo Pancho. Napansin niyang nangangayat na ito. Matagal-tagal na rin ang dinadamdam nitong ubo.

            Hi Jennifer, tamlay mo yata ah. May problema ka ba?, bati ni Melissa. Ito ang tinuturing niyang matalik na kaibigan. Nagkilala sila ng sumali siya sa Volleyball team ng kanilang paaralan. Ito ang unang naging mapalapit sa kanya. “Praktis tayo mamaya sabi ni coach, dagdag ng kanyang kaibigan.

                 “Wala naman bestfriend, iniisip ko lang ang kalagayan ng lolo ko, sagot nito.                                  

              Biglang tumunog ang bell at nagpaalaman na ang dalawa. Naabutan niyang nagkakagulo ang buong klase ng pumasok siya. Wala pa kasi ang kanilang guro.

                “Good morning class, bati ng isang pamilyar na boses. Napalingon ang lahat at nagsibalikan sa kanilang mga upuan. Isang matunog na sagot na pagbati ang kanilang tinugon at biglang tumahimik ang lugar na kani-kanina lang ay para itong bintahan ng ukay-ukay sa palengke.

Isang mahiwagang tingin ang pinakawalan ni Ginoong Vicera sa klase. “Ngayong umaga ay malalaman na ninyo kung sinu-sino ang paparangalan sa darating na pagtatapos, wika ng guro. 

Matunog na palakpakan ang umingay ulit sa silid na iyon. Si Jennifer na naka-upo sa tabi ng bintana ay nakatingin sa labas at parang walang paki sa nangyayari.

Aray! anu ba?, hikbi ng bata ng tapikin siya ng sunud-sunod ng kanyang mga kaklase.

               “Jenny congrats!, wika nila na nag pabalik ng kamalayan ng bata. Siya ang First Honors ng klase, doon lang bumalik ang kanyang ulirat sa kabiglaan.

           Nasa kalayuan ay natatanaw na niya ang kanilang bahay. Punong-puno ng kasiyahan ang kanyang puso habang dala-dala ang mabuting balita sa kanyang lolo. Sa isip niya na umaakyat sila ng entablado ng kanyang lolo at isukbit sa kanya ang gintong medalya.

               Yayakapin ko ng mahigpit si lolo, sabi niya sa sarili habang nakangiti. Bat ang daming tao sa bahay? bat andon si Kapitan? Sunud-sunod na tanong niya sa sarili. Nakadama siya ng matinding nginig sa katawan. Parang di niya naihakbang ang dalawang paa.

            Natagpuan ni Jenny ang kanyang sarili sa panghuling hakbang ng hagdan. Nanginginig ang kanyang katawan habang pilit na minamasdan ang mukha ng kanyang lolo. Nakatiklop na ang mga mata ngunit waring nakangiti pa ito. Bigla siyang nakaramdam ng yakap. May binulong ito. “Ipagpatuloy mo iha ang mga nasimulan mo, nandito lang ako nagbabantay sa'yo.

            “Madam Jenny, andito na po ang kasosyo ninyong nagmula sa Japan. Magsisimula na po  ang inyong business meeting, tawag ng kanyang sekretarya. Nakatanaw pa rin siya sa bintana ng kanyang 115th floor na opisina habang hawak ang kanyang paboritong laruan. Sinasariwa ang lahat , dalawampung taon ng nakalilipas.#

Katorse. Labin-apat. Maaring sa karamihan ordinaryo lamang ang numerong ito pero hindi sa kaibigan ko. Syempre naman, ipinanganak kaya sa araw na ito ang isa sa mga talentadong tao sa mundo.

             Isang araw nga ng may try-out sa volleyball,agad siyang sumali dahil sasali din daw ang crush niya sa girls team at yun pasok silang dalawa. Masaya pa siyang kinuwento sa akin ang pangyayaring iyon.

             Dahil dito,araw-araw nag-eensayo siya ng maayos. Sinisigurado niya na ang bola ay palaging pasok sa net. Minsan naliligo na siya pawis pagkatapos mag praktis. Talagang hangad na hangad niyang makapunta sa regional level ngayong taon at maiuwi ang medalya na kanyang pangarap. Noong isang taon di siya mapalad na masungkit ang medalya sa larangan ng Badminton nang siya ang nagrepresenta ng lalawigan sa WVRAA Meet sa Roxas, Capiz.

            “Malas dun gd me haw????? Text message na kumalat sa aming mga cellphone. Ang mensahe ay nanggaling kay Vince. Nahabag ang kalooban ko ng mabasa ko iyon. “Y?” Reply ni Sir Bads sa text na iyon.

            “T mung kay gn bata me May 14, 2001 kag ang pwede lang kasipal sa sports is May 15, 2001 patas, t naging over age me one day..,” tugon niya.

             Randam ko ang hapdi ng mga salitang it yon ng aking kaibigan. Pinuntahan ko siya. Tanaw ko ang unti-unting paghulog ang mga munting perlas sa kanyang mga mata. Agad-agad siyang pumunta sa harap ng gym at doon ibinuhos ang lahat. Ang galit.. Pagmamaktol..at higit sa lahat panghihinayang! Nagsimula siyang magpakawala ng mga katanangunan na kahit sino ay di kayang sagutin. Oo, alam ko sa aking sarili ng mga oras na iyon ay wala akong magagawa kundi awa sa aking kaibigan, at ang tanging maibigay sa kanya ay ang intindihin siya.

                “Bakit sa lahat ng araw, May 14 pa ako ipinanganak. Sana noong 15 na lang,” bukambibig niya.
Pilit kong tinutumbok ang pinaghuhugutan ng kanyang hinanakit. Noon ko lamang napagtanto sa aking sarili kung gaano kahalaga sa isang tao ang isports, kung gaano kahalaga ang makapaglaro at ipakita ang kakayahan.

                 Mapaglaro man ang tadhana kay Vince  sa nagdaang araw, batid ko na pagsapit ng Sabado Setyembre 14 muling sisikat ang bagong umaga sa kanya. Vince, isa kang huwaran at modelo na nagbabandera sa importansya ng isports sa buhay ng tao! Anuman ang nangyari, proud kami sa ‘yo!#

Palarong Pambansa Gold Medalist Lights Urn


Bugasong, Antique - A gold medalist in palarong pambansa lighted the urn of friendship during the 2013 Municipal Athletic Meet in the morning of September 12, 2013, Bugasong Municipal Town Plaza, Bugasong, Antique.

                 He is Ed John Ostan, a grade 7 student of Antique Vocational School and a resident of Brgy. Zaragoza, Bugasong, Antique.

                 "Sana maitugro ang cooperative effort kang tanan, nga gina-composed kang LGU,school heads, teachers, para ma-achieve ang success sa kadya nga event,’’ stressed by Mr. Sunny Pardico, Teacher lll, Palarong  Pambansa Coach.

                  Ostan and his teammates won the gold medal in 4x100 m relay in Dumaguete, Negros Oriental last April 21-27, 2013.

                  He is a Grade VI pupil of Zaragoza Elementary School when he represented the region in the said event.
             
                  Region VI was declared  1st Runner-Up in the total standing next to National Capital Region last year.#
